第29回 手術の未来では、国立がん研究センター中央病院 骨軟部腫瘍・リハビリテーション科 科長の川井章氏をお招きし、「骨軟部腫瘍外科の最前線と未来展望2025～患肢温存とQOL向上への挑戦～」についてご講演いただきます。
悪性骨軟部腫瘍（肉腫）は悪性腫瘍であるとともに運動器疾患でもあるという特徴を有し、その治療にあたっては、Oncologicalな視点（生命予後の改善）とともに、運動機能の維持・向上（ADL,QOLの改善）という視点が欠かせません。
本講演では、この課題に対する骨軟部腫瘍外科の最前線と未来展望をご紹介いただきます。具体的には、腫瘍自体の多彩さに加えて、手術部位（四肢vs.体幹）や組織（骨vs.軟部組織）のvariation、絶対的な症例数の少なさ等から術式の定型化が難しい悪性骨軟部腫瘍に対してどのような外科的治療や患肢温存術が行われているのかご紹介いただきながら、それを支える集学的アプローチについてもお話しいただきます。

We will be inviting Dr. Akira Kawai, Chief, Department of Musculoskeletal Oncology and Rehabilitation Medicine, National Cancer Center Hospital, for a lecture titled "Frontiers and Future Perspectives in Orthopaedic Oncology 2025: Challenges Toward Limb Salvage and Improvement of Quality of Life."
Malignant bone and soft tissue tumors (sarcomas) are unique in that they are not only malignant tumors but also musculoskeletal diseases. Therefore, treatment must focus on both an oncological perspective (improving life prognosis) and a functional perspective (maintaining and improving activities of daily living and quality of life).
In this lecture, Dr. Kawai will provide an overview of the forefront and future outlook of orthopaedic oncology surgery in tackling these challenges. He will discuss the surgical treatments and limb salvage procedures performed for malignant bone and soft tissue tumors. These procedures are particularly complex due to the diversity of tumors, variations in surgical sites (limbs vs. trunk) and tissues (bone vs. soft tissue), and the small number of cases. Dr. Kawai will also touch on the multidisciplinary approaches that support these treatments.
